The HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader offers exceptional dense storage value for basic data protection Ideal as an entry-level automated backup solution for small to medium sized businesses it combines storage density and tape library features into a compact 1U form factor. With compressed capacity (2:1) of up to 12.8 TB using LTO-4 Ultrium tape drive technology, the 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader will provide cost-effective, easy-to-install unattended backup. The 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader is equipped with one LTO Ultrium SCSI or SAS tape drive and can hold up to eight data cartridges. In order to easily manage your media, standard features include a bar code reader and two removable 4-slot magazines. Perfect for replicated systems, the web-based remote management interface reduces dependencies on local IT staff, allowing multiple sites to be supported centrally. The 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader packs the maximum amount of storage into the minimum amount of space. LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 tape technology delivers 12.8 TB of compressed capacity (2:1) in a 1U form factor.
Standard bar code reader provides faster inventory times and facilitates tracking of media.
Reduce installation time with rack-ready units; optional rack kits are available for rack-mounting. The unit can also be used on a desktop by simply installing the enclosed rubber feet.
Choose from a range of one drive, eight slot LTO-based configurations to best suit your needs. The 1/8 G2 models include LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 SAS or SCSI, LTO-3 Ultrium 920 SAS or SCSI, LTO-2 Ultrium 448 SCSI tape drives.
For dedicated import/export of media cartridges, each autoloader includes one mail slot. The autoloader also includes two removable 4-slot magazines for bulk loading of media, and provides a convenient bulk storage unit for moving media offsite.

Overview

The HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 Tape Drive, based on fourth-generation LTO technology, is the highest capacity, 1.6 TB compressed per cartridge, fastest performing, 576 GB per hour, half-height tape drive in the StorageWorks family providing hardware data encryption to deliver the ultimate direct attach data protection solution for entry level and for midsized customers. It is available in both SCSI and SAS models.

AES 256-bit hardware data encryption provides easy-to-enable security to protect the most sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access of tape cartridges. By using LTO-4 encryption, not only is data fully capable of being compressed therefore maximizing capacity, encrypted backups are completed without a loss in performance.

The Ultrium 1760 Tape Drive is fully read and write compatible with all fourth - third-generation Ultrium media and offers further investment protection through its backward-read compatibility with second-generation Ultrium media.

HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive represents HP’s fourth-generation of LTO tape drive technology positioned as HP’s first tape drive capable of storing up to 1.6 TB per cartridge while providing hardware-based encryption to enable greater levels of security and unprecedented performance.

With a low profile, high density storage capacity, the TS2900 is ideally suited for backup and archival operations. The TS2900 is equipped with standard features designed to provide ease-of-use and secured data backup. The IBM System Storage™ TS3100 Tape Library Express Model and its storage management applications are designed to address capacity, performance, data protection, reliability, availability, affordability and application requirements. It is designed as a functionally rich, entry tape-storage solution incorporating LTO Ultrium tape technology. The IBM TS3100 Express model is an excellent solution for large-capacity or high-performance tape backup with or without random access. The TS3100 is also an excellent choice for tape automation for IBM System p™, IBM RS/6000®, IBM System i™, IBM AS/400®, IBM System x™ and other open systems.

The IBM TS3100 Tape Library Express is well-suited for handling backup, save and restore and archival data-storage needs for small to medium-size environments. With its single Ultrium 4 or Ultrium 3 Tape Drive and 24 tape cartridge capacity, the IBM TS3100 model is designed to leverage LTO technology to cost effectively handle growing storage requirements. The TS3100 Tape Library is configured with two removable cartridge magazines, one on the left side and one on the right. Additionally, the left magazine includes a single mail slot to help support continuous library operation while importing/exporting media. A bar-code reader is standard in the library, supporting the library’s operation in sequential or random access mode. The TS3100 also comes standard with remote management capabilities to allow for remote administration of the tape library through a Web interface.

The new IBM Ultrium 4 drive has more than double the drive throughput of the third-generation LTO Ultrium Tape Drives and up to nearly ten times the throughput of the first-generation drive. The IBM LTO Ultrium 4 Tape Drives are designed to support up to 120 MBps native data-transfer rates. In addition, with the use of the new IBM TotalStorage® LTO Ultrium 800 GB Data Cartridge, the IBM Ultrium 4 Tape Drive doubles tape-cartridge physical capacity up to 800 GB native physical capacity (1.6 TB with a 2:1 compression), providing an IBM TS3100 Tape Library capacity of up to 38.4 TB with a 2:1 compression or 19.2 TB native. The IBM Ultrium 4 Tape Drives are designed to read and write third-generation LTO Ultrium data cartridges and read LTO Ultrium 2 data cartridges with improved data rates. The new Ultrium 4 technology helps support the encryption of data when using either IBMLOT 4 four Gbps FC or 3 Gbps SAS tape drives. As storage needs grow, you can build on this storage investment by moving to higher capacity and performance automated libraries employing the new IBM Ultrium 4 Tape Drive technology.

The IBM TS3100 Tape Library Express features LVD SCSI, native switched, 4 Gbps fibre-channel and 3 Gbps SAS interfaces for Ultrium 4 drives (LVD SCSI and 4 Gbps FC for Ultrium 3 drives) and can attach to a wide variety of open system servers. The sequential or random access library comes in a stand-alone base configuration with the option of an industry-standard 19-inch rack mount kit. The IBM TS3100 also has an LCD display and indicators for power, drive and activity, error status and message information.

The System Storage TS2240 Tape Drive is an excellent tape storage solution for businesses requiring backup or low-cost, real-time archival storage of their data. The TS2240 has a physical storage capacity of up to 1.6 TB (with 2:1 compression) in conjunction with the new IBM System Storage LTO Ultrium™ 800 GB data cartridge, which provides up to double the capacity of Ultrium 3 cartridges. The native data transfer performance of the TS2240 Tape Drive has increased over the previous LTO half-high generation to up to 120 MB/sec. The TS2240 Tape Drive continues to provide an excellent alternative to slower and smaller capacity 1/4-inch, 4 mm and 8 mm DLT/SDLT tape drives.

The Dell PowerVault 114T tape rack enclosure offers superior capacity in a 2U form factor.
